About

Jessamy A stemmed from my hatred of school. Being educated on rigid subjects in a rigid learning environment shelters us. It seemed so wrong for me that I was in a system that limited and categorised me from such a young age.

I then went on to study sociology and cultural studies. This got me excited, it felt revitalising to be debating and have an even deeper perspective of my place in society, my culture, my peer group, ethnic group, sexuality, class, every part of my identity…

Designing becomes energised when I think of the person who I want to wear my clothing and all the sides to their identity. Fashion should speak for us, evolve with us and challenge us, meaning the garments are truly made for us and this is something constantly in consideration when I design and style.

I embrace fluidity of all these personal traits we may have to design/style clothing and constantly cross over opposing and contrasting ideas because no one should ever just feel they are one thing; our personalities and identities have 101 sides.

Jessamy A is a brand that aims to communicate voices for those who feel misunderstood or simply want to be identified as themselves no matter how miscellaneous their traits are. The complexity of each and everyone’s identity is way more than we could ever fathom so fashion and styling is the perfect platform for us to experiment with every factor.

Empathy, diversity and having confidence with experimentation and celebrating all of this is at the forefront of Jessamy A.
